Reggae Geel 2024 First Names - A Two-Day Musical Extravaganza

Geel, Belgium – Reggae Geel proudly announces the first names of its line-up for its 2024 festival, marking the beginning of what promises to be the most memorable edition yet. As Europe's oldest reggae festival, Reggae Geel extends its festivities to a full two-day event for the first time, offering an immersive weekend of musical excellence and cultural celebration on August 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

 

First Artist Announcement: A Glimpse into the 2024 Line-Up

Julian Marley & The Uprising take centre stage, with Julian Marley, who won the recent Grammy for Best Reggae Album. This son of reggae legend Bob Marley leads the charge, bringing a deeply rooted reggae sound enriched by a life dedicated to musical exploration and cultural expression.

Arrested Development, the trailblazing alternative hip-hop group with a strong reggae influence, promises to deliver an electrifying performance. Their socially conscious lyrics and infectious grooves have earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated global fanbase.

Alborosie & The Shengen Clan are set to captivate the audience with Alborosie's authentic reggae rhythms and the band's dynamic stage presence, celebrating the cultural bridges built through music.

A magical blend of legacy and future-forward talent

Our 2024 line-up strikes the right balance between a rich musical legacy and rising stars that blend reggae with hip-hop, R&B and afrobeats influences. We’ll take our crowd from the genre’s roots towards its future!

-        Cimarons, pioneers of the UK reggae scene and the first-ever reggae band on the continent, will share their historic sound, blending classic reggae with rocksteady and lovers' rock.
-        Skip Marley offers a fresh perspective on reggae, infusing it with hip-hop, R&B, and pop while honouring his legendary heritage as Bob Marley’s grandson.
-        Duane Stephenson is set to enchant with his smooth vocals and lyrics that delve into love, justice, and the human spirit.
-        Marla Brown, daughter of Dennis Brown, brings a modern twist to the reggae tradition, showcasing her dynamic vocal range.
-        Dezarie will uplift with her spiritually rich and empowering reggae, rooted in social and racial justice themes.
-        Jah Lil promises to inspire with his blend of reggae and dancehall, focusing on life's positivity and consciousness.
-        BLVK H3RO represents the new wave of reggae, blending traditional sounds with elements of hip-hop and R&B for a unique sonic experience.

This is just the first wave of artists, with many more to be announced in the coming months, ensuring a line-up showcasing the reggae genre's rich diversity and vibrancy.

 

 A Festival of Many Stages

Reggae Geel 2024 will feature four stages, each offering a unique atmosphere and musical offerings. 

From the Gold Stage, we are hosting the biggest names in reggae to the Bounce Dancehall, where beats and bass will keep the energy high. Dub fanatics can immerse themselves in the Dub Forest, offering a chill vibe with deep basslines and echoic rhythms. Our Yagga Yagga stage brings the best in rockers, ska, and old-school reggae and will be the venue for cultural surprises all weekend long.

Each space is designed to offer a distinct experience, reflecting the many facets of reggae and its related genres.
